Fourth Devlog - The story begins!


Hello everybody!

Today we have exciting news for you. The game is finally getting some lore, being divided into 3 acts, each one of them introducing a new mechanic!

I'll skip the formalities and start showing the improvements made by our amazing team members:

Raquel: Another week of being our artist slave. She went exploring and dug out some amazing sprites. This time, the main focus was our games' marketing strategy, for winning at MOJO (Games showcase of our university) and did a stunning poster, sided with some cute stickers to give our visitors. The stickers already arrived and they look amazing. She also gifted us with two new enemies as well, one of them being the end boss of our story. Care to guess which one? :)

                                                                                                                                     

Until now our bee was immortal, but that's not too realistic, and as you know we're taking a realistic approach. So now, after ending all of its little lives, she does a little jump to the ground and a "Game Over" screen appears, with a cute animation you'll get to see if you download the game, releasing in 10 days btw :)


Oh, and also there's this present in the menu 🤔

 I wonder what it does 

(I mean, I don't :D. I can say it is an area to redeem codes, that may or may not be dropped in the near future)

Pedro: So... this was a though week. Redesigning the game to have a story, besides the endless mode, was not an easy task, but we're getting there. Also, the boss is almost done! It brings back some hazards that are familiar to the player, but over 9000, while getting to it and also a cool new attack just for this occasion. I found a lot of joy in doing it.
This week there's also a screenshot from me (amazing, I know) that doesn't reach to Raquel's sprites, but still gives you some info. The Highscore system! It is fully functional now and stores your highscores locally, if you want to try to beat them up. This function will only be available in Endless Mode, so be sure to play the Story Mode first:

Acts are being refined, a little cutscene is cooking, the mechanisms for each act are done, so everything is right on tracks and our team is giving it all to have the best game we can by 27th June.

Miguel: Hello everyone! Here's my weekly update, right off the bat I knew this would be a though week, a part from the improvements that we still need to make to our game ( which I'm also really happy how it is turning out!! :D ) I also had a lot of work from other courses so I did my best to make more progress in Bee Trial in the beginning of the week. I improved our metrics system during the weekend since we are almost in MOJO, and I had a little screen shake to when our player is hit so we have more immersion in our game. 


Joao: Went missing in action, but i'm sure we'll hear from him soon
